Chinese BBQ Pork (Char Siu)
Ingredients
- 2 pork tenderloins (680 g total)
- 60 ml soy sauce
- 15 g brown sugar
- 15 ml honey
- 10 ml red food coloring (opt)
- 1½ g five-spice powder
- 1 clove garlic, minced
Directions
- Marinate: Trim excess fat from tenderloins. Combine all ingredients in a deep bowl, add tenderloins, cover, and refrigerate at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.
- Prepare to Cook: Remove tenderloins from marinade and drain, reserving the marinade.
- Bake: Place tenderloins on a wire rack and bake at 350°F for about 45 minutes, turning frequently and basting regularly with the reserved marinade, until done.
Chef's Notes
- Thin slice on a bias and serve as an appetizer, in Chinese fried rice, or Chinese-style noodle soup
