Chopped Cheese Salad
Ingredients
- 8-oz ground beef patty
- Lettuce, chopped
- Tomatoes, chopped
- Pickled Jalapeño, chopped
- Sour cream
- Shredded cheese (any type)
- Onion, diced
- Avocado, diced
- Bell pepper, sliced (Optional)
- Taco seasoning
- Tortilla chips
Directions
- Cook Beef: Place the patty on the grill or griddle and chop as it cooks. Add onions, jalapeño chips, cheese, and taco seasoning. Cook, mixing, until beef is done, onions are translucent, and cheese is fully melted and incorporated.
- Prep Plate: Line a salad plate with 1-2 large lettuce leaves. Add shredded lettuce in the center to form a bed.
- Assemble: Spoon the beef and cheese mixture onto the lettuce.
- Top & Serve: Finish with sour cream, jalapeños, tomatoes, avocado, cheese, and tortilla chips. Sprinkle lightly with taco seasoning as garnish.
Chef's Notes
- This recipe was originally developed for my in-laws' burger restaurant chain in Texas and first served in a sourdough bread bowl. For a lighter option, lettuce leaves replace the bread bowl as the container.
- Fresh pico de gallo is an excellent addition if available
