Korean Spicy Pork (Jaeyuk Bokkeum)
Ingredients
- 450 g pork shoulder, cut into big bite size pieces
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 3 stalks scallion, chopped (white part for sauce, green part for garnish)
- 1 teaspoon cooking oil
Sauce
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp ginger, minced
- 1 tbs gochujang
- 1 tbs soy sauce
- 1 tbs fish sauce
- 2 tbs rice wine
- 1 tbs brown sugar
- ½ tsp ground black pepper
- 1 tbs sesame oil
- 1 tbs gochugaru (Korean chili flakes)
- 1 tbs white part green onion
Directions
- Make Sauce: In a bowl, combine all sauce ingredients and mix well.
- Heat Pan: Heat pan over medium to medium‑high and add 1 tsp oil.
- Cook Meat: Add meat and cook until golden brown. Remove to a colander to drain.
- Cook Onion: Add sliced onion to the pan and sauté until translucent.
- Add Sauce: Lower heat, add the sauce, and cook 3 minutes, stirring to combine.
- Finish & Serve: Taste and adjust seasoning as needed. Garnish with reserved green onions and serve with steamed rice.
